Surprise Proposal

We LOVE shooting proposals.

Jake contacted us when planning his proposal to Jen and asked us to to be there to photograph it and we were obviously ecstatic. We love surprises. We love proposals, we love love! We couldn’t wait.

Sara talked with Rachelle at the Ocean House who coordinated this event for Jake, she said they had a lunch reservation and when they finished they’d head down to the herb garden, that Jake reserved as his special spot to ask. There were rose petals scattered out around the circle and the weather was gorgeous. It was hot but there was a nice breeze and the sun was shining. They couldn’t have asked for a better day.

Sara headed up to the staircase to stay out of view and I hid in the herb bushes to catch them coming down the stairs. Both of us being in different spots gives us such different views and perspectives. Jake and Jen made their way to the herb garden. He took her hands in his and had a sweet speech that I was wishing I could have heard! He asked. She said yes. Celebratory kisses and hugs to follow.

Their happiness was contagious and we couldn’t stop smiling for them. They were just the sweetest couple. And so natural and photogenic. Jake and Jen had known each other and dated in high school and said they kinda grew up together. August 1st is their anniversary. Last year they came to the Ocean House and this year Jake thought it would be the best way to not raise suspicion for his plan. Jen said the only thing that confused her or made her raise an eyebrow was that Jake didn’t want to spend the day at the beach considering the weather, but I don’t think she was disappointed in his plans! We love the way these images came out! We’re definitely hoping to see more of Jake and Jen and wish them all the happiness in the world.
